Ngā Wāhine Toa is a project intended to help young women discover wellbeing through physical development and creative investigation into ‘the strengths of women’.
This project is by women, for women.
THE CREATIVE RESIDENCY!
We completed a residency 11th - 15th July where the girls involved in the project did a range of performing arts! Including circus, kapa haka, dance and more!
Ngā Wāhine Toa is centred around women’s strength & how we can add to this global conversation as physically creative women. Women in the creative sector often struggle with hard decisions that command their careers. It is our intention to create a safe space where participants feel comfortable to discuss, examine & question ‘the voice of women’ without prejudice.
Massive Thank You to Sport Auckland’s Tū Manawa Fund for enabling us to complete this wonderful project!
WORKSHOPS!
For phase one of the project we delivered taster workshops for all in circus arts and physical creative development to the schools and community groups in the Maungakiekie and Tāmaki areas, with a focus on empowering a creative voice in young women. Phase two is a week long research & development residency at The Dust Palace studio over the summer months, exploring the strengths of women through their personal experience.
This project gives them an opportunity to share their voices as strong, creative, leaders & role models for women in Tāmaki Makaurau.
