Do I need to be fit to start?
Absolutely not! There are no physical prerequisites to begin and the best time to start is now.
If you have a background in sports, gymnastics or dancing you may find you progress faster in some areas. Our tutors are experts at working to the mixed levels of all students and we have easier and harder variations to keep everyone included and challenged.
Which class should I choose?
Grade 1-2 aerial is ideal for adult beginners and teaches you the foundations on a range of different aerial equipment.
Youth 7-12 years and Teen classes are suitable for younger beginners.
If you need help to pick the right class flick Jaine an email (email@example.com)
Where do I come and what time?
Our address is 61E Hugo Johnston Drive, Penrose.
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first class and let your tutor know that it is your first time. We will take a moment to show you around and welcome you!
Be sure to tap your name on the ipad to sign in.
What do I wear?
For aerial classes please make sure you have no zips or metal on your clothing, zips can catch and damage our equipment.
For aerial classes: Comfy stretchy clothing that covers the backs of your knees and your tummy, as these areas can be burnt or grazed by the equipment. As you get more advanced you should also bring a layer that can cover your armpits.
Ground based classes: comfortable clothing that you can move in, with no metal bits.
We have filtered water onsite so bring a drink bottle to stay hydrated! Circus is thirsty work.
How do I book?
To book a class you need to create an account, you can do this by clicking “create an account” on the classes page of our website and filling in your details (https://www.circusdb.org/
From here you can buy credits for either a trial class to dip your toes or a full term if you’re ready to commit. Once you have credits you can assign them to the class you’d like to attend.
What if I can’t make my class?
Easy! If you’re away or unwell, just cancel your class (before it starts) on our booking system. You will be given the credit back and can use it to sign up to any other class as a make-up! This can even be a great chance to try out a different discipline like handstands, contortion or aerial conditioning.
Credits do expire at the end of each term though so be sure to use up any make-up classes.
Do I need a partner to start acro or doubles trapeze
Yes. We’ve found the class and progression works best when you have a duo partner that you regularly work with. We are happy to help you find one within the student body… but the class does not cater to someone if they are on their own.
Are there prerequisites for swinging trapeze or cloud swing?
Yes, you should be able to comfortably climb a rope or fabric and invert in the air.
